HUSKIES OPEN STATE TOURNAMENT WITH FIRST ROUND WIN; REACH 100 GOALS
Forest Hills Northern opened their MHSAA district title defense with an overwhelming 16-0 victory over the undermanned Union Red Hawks. The Huskies, working towards back to back district titles and their 3rd in the past 4 years scored 5 goals in the game’s opening 4 minutes to take a step towards that goal.
The 16 goals scored helped the Huskies tip the century goal mark for the season “100 goals for the year was one of our team goals at the beginning of the season. I just didn’t think we would get it tonight” Head coach Jamie Bogart stated. Each goal scored from here on out will set a new school record as the 100 goals scored beat the previous record held by the 2009 team of 99 goals.

“These are the hardest games to coach. There is truly no good way to deal with the situation” Coach Bogart would continue “I credit Union, they never really gave up. If they lost the ball, they would work to get it back.”
The Huskies will now advance to the district semi-finals where they will take on Comstock Park and 8-0 winner over GR Creston. The Huskies defeated the Panthers twice the season 7-0 at home in the first game of the year and 8-0 at Comstock Park just 4 weeks ago. Kickoff is set for 5:00pm at Husky Stadium. Forest Hills Eastern will take on Grand Rapids Northview in the 7:00pm game. Both FHE and Northview received a first round bye.
